first statue is of Laocoon and his sons (laocoon group) and the other one is The Rescue. The Rescue statue is loosely inspired by the Laocoon group Statue.
Laocoon and his sons (pic A) was the inspiration for ‘the rescue’ (pic B) on Capitol Hill by Horatio Greenough. The later was removed for its racist tones.
