A  very  famous  tradition  associated  with  this  location  came  to  an  end  this  year . What ?

Quoting  Manu  Sathian ,

“Every year since 1949, a stranger – known locally as the Poe Toaster – has left three roses and a half-bottle of cognac on Edgar Allan Poe’s grave in Baltimore on his birthday. The roses are believed to represent the three bodies buried beneath the monument – Poe, his mother-in-law and his wife Virginia; the significance of the cognac is not known.

This year he failed to show up this tradition as 2009 marked the bicentennial of Poe’s birth”

    But this year, as around 30 fans – one of whom had flown in from Chicago – waited all night in the cemetery for the visitor to show, he failed to appear

    this is the grave of edgar allan poe and an unidentified person used to leave roses and a bottle of cognac in the grave on poe’s bday for the past 50 yrs or so.this year he did not come 2 offer d roses and cognac and so the tradition was broken.this year is surprisingly the 201st bday of poe.this news was on all newspapers worldwide.

    In 2010, for the first time the Poe Toaster failed to show up for the annual tribute (may be he will be back in 2011)

    mysterious person leaves flowers at the grave of edgar allen poe every year on his anniversary . however this time , said person failed to turn up .

    The tombstone is that of Edgar Allan Poe

    For decades, a mysterious figure dressed in black, his features cloaked by a wide-brimmed hat and scarf, crept into a churchyard to lay three roses and a bottle of cognac at the grave of Edgar Allan Poe.
