Daily Question # 397

Clue ( a  PJ , to  be  frank ;-) ) added  for  Q  No. 396 . Give  it  another  shot , all  of  you .

What’s  the  good  connect ?

A

B

Quoting  Appu ,

“Among numerous musicians who have, in full or in part, borrowed or sampled from Ennio Morricone’s ( A ) ‘Good,  Bad and Ugly‘ Theme are Gorillaz (Jamie Hewlett and Damon Albarn – B , who composed for Monkey: Journey to the West), whose 2001 debut single, “Clint Eastwood”, was so named because it reminded the group of Morricone’s theme and its melodic structure”

Long winded , but  definitely  the  rite  answer :-)

Full  points  to  The Good , The  Bad  and  the  Queen connection  as  well  even  though  thats  not  what  I  was  looking  for .

Cracked  by  Rithwik , Freestyler , Nitish  Khadiya , Nishanth  Raman , Appu ,  Comfortably  and  Technically  Dumb , Arun  and  Subin .

  1. Rithwik says:

Once Upon a Time in the West the famous work of Ennio Morricone was served as an inspiration for Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett group Gorrilaz album Monkey: Journey to the West

  2. Freestyler says:

The Good, the Bad and the
    A. Ugly (Score of which was composed by him)
    B. Queen (Band formed by them/Song recorded by them)

  3. Nitish says:

    Ennio Morricone
    Gorillaz

Clint Eastwood the song by the gorillaz is the connect

  4. Nishanth Raman says:

Connect – Monkey: Journey to the West.. a stage adaptation of the 16th Century Chinese novel Journey to the West.

Gorillaz(Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett) derived influences from Ennio Morricone to compose the soundtrack of the stage adaptation.

Long winded and definitely a wrong answer. :)

  6. Seems like there’s more than one connection. Damon Albarn (Monkey: Journey to the west fame) was part of Gorillaz who had a song called Clint Eastwood. He’s also been associated with Good Bad and The Queen, clearly a pun on you know what.
    A is Ennio Moricone

  7. arun says:

Damon Albarn and Blur have a track called Morricone on the ‘think tank’ album.

  8. Subin says:

Damon Albarn and Hewlett(of Gorillaz) in front of cover of Monkey:Journey to the west
and Ennio Morricone (B)’s score – Once Upon a time in the west. So, is the connect “WEST”. Such as “Journey to the west”
