    Concord ??!!? :)

Shot heard around the world (Franz Ferdinand’s assassination, Bobby Thomson’s home run for the giants, Paul Caliguiri’s goal for USA, Gene Sarazen in the Masters). The phrase comes from a Ralph Waldo Emerson poem titled “Concord Hymn”.

    Shot Heard ‘Round the World’

    Brilliant question Captain :-)

  4. Nice question :)
    Concord

    Connect is “Concord” hymn

A line from it’s opening stanza “shot heard round the world” is sometimes used to describe major events in world history. Like the shooting of Franz Ferdinand

This term finds it’s presence in sports journalism more than any other place and is time and again used to write about major sporting achievements, like (A)Bobby thomson’s home run, Gene Sarazen’s albatross at the 1935 masters etc

  5. Siddharth Jain says:

    The Concorde

    1. Bobby Thomson
    2. Paul Caliguiri
    3. Gene Sarazen
    4. Archduke Franz Ferdinand

All have been referenced with “the shot heard ’round the world”, which is originally from Emerson’s poem – Concord Hymn” – hence the connect.

    Great question !!
