Why  was  this  event  unique ?

The  pic  depicts  the  Indian  Armed  Forces  contingent  ( comprising  of  Army  men  from  the  Maratha  Light  Infantry , the  Navy  and  the  Air  Force ) marching  down  the  Champs  de  Elysees  on  the  occasion  of  Bastille  Day  2009 . This  was  the  first  ever  time  an  Indian  contingent  took  part  in  the  National  day  parade  of  another  country . It  was  also the  first  time  ever  a  foreign  leader ( Manmohan  Singh  in  this  case )  was  the  guest  of  honor  at  the  Bastille  Day  Parade .
