A likely answer would have been Barrack Obama as he is the third sitting senator to be elected president. But the second was JFK, and from no angle does the second guy look like him. :P

  2. Navpreet Singh says:

A – Senator Edwin Jacob “Jake” Garn
B – Senator Clarence William “Bill” Nelson

The Answer is John Herschel Glenn Jr.
He was the third sitting Member of Congress as well as the oldest person in space when he flew aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery in 1998.

Senator Jake Garn was the first sitting US Member of Congress to fly in space when he flew aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery as a Payload Specialist.

Senator Bill Nelson was the second – he flew on the space shuttle Columbia as Payload Specialist.

“Utah Senator Jake Garn(A) is the first sitting member of the United States Congress to fly in space. He was the payload specialist onboard Discovery’s STS-51-D mission in 1985. The second seated politician to fly in space is then Florida Representative (now Senator) Bill Nelson(B), who flew in 1986 onboard the Space Shuttle Columbia. In 1998, Discovery carried astronaut (and senator) John Glenn, who was 77 at the time, back in space, giving him the record of oldest person to go into space. Incidentally, this also made him the third seated politician to fly in space.”
