Following the break up of Rockefeller’s Standard Oil in 1911, these companies were together referred to as the Seven Sisters.

    these used to be the seven sisters of the petroleum industy (esso, gulf oil, texaco, bp, shell, mobil and chevron).

    Well , Big Oil refers to the Petroleum Supermajors ( 6 of em ) ..Conoco Phillips and Total S.A. in this list are not part of the 7 sisters’ list .. But , gud funda there nevertheless :-)
