Streisand  Effect – It  refers  to  a  phenomenon  on  the  Internet  where  an  attempt  to  censor  or  remove  a  piece  of information  backfires, causing  the  information  to  be  widely  publicized . In  2003 , Barbara  Streisand  sued  pictopia.com  in  an  attempt  to  have  the  aerial  snap  of  her  house  removed  from  the  publicly  available  collection  of  California  coastline  snaps , citing  privacy  concerns . It  was  later  noted  that  the  snap  had  become  more  popular  on  the  internet .
