American  General  Abner  Doubleday ( A ) was  one  of  the  most  important  personalities  involved  in  the  US  civil  war , notably  the  battles  of  Fort  Sumter  and  Gettysburg . Most  urban  legends  regarding  baseball  credit  Doubleday  as  the  man  who  invented  the  game  of  Baseball ( B ) .

    Is the person in the top picture one Mr.James Lorraine Geddes,is so then the connection would be that this guy was a civil war hero and incidentally a person who served in India.After the civil war, Geddes was principal of the Iowa College for the Blind at Vinton, and until his death was connected with the Iowa College of Agriculture at Ames.
    The second picture is the home baseball ground of Iowa Athletic.

    So is the connection Iowa state?
