Leander Paes ( A ) , Richard Krajicek ( B ) , Sergi Bruguera ( C ) , Michael Stich ( D ) and Paul Haarhuis ( E ) are the only players of the sampras generation { which would refer roughly to a group of players who began their careers in the late 80s and have already retired / in the waning stages of their careers } to have a better head – to – head record against Sampras. Others like Derrick Rostagno were either a generation earlier or a generation younger like Safin , Hewitt , Federer .

Interesting question. I can ID Paes, Krajicek, Bruguera, and the last one is Paul Haarhuis, I thought (and google tells me it is him)
as to the connection: no idea.
a guess would be Pistol Pete, my favouritest tennis player of all time.
the logic is that Krajicek and Bruguera have winning records against Pete (overall), while sampras lost to leander paes famously in their clash a decade ago. but then lots of players should have a head to head advantage (hewiit & safin possibly) haarhuis cannot possibly win more matches than sampras.
