Daily Question # 31

Pic  1  shows  Earth  as  seen  from  Voyager  1  before  the  probe  left  the  Solar  System . The  planet’s  appearance  in  this  iconic  snap  was  described  as  a  ‘Pale  Blue  Dot ‘ . This  was  the  brainchild  of  Carl  Sagan (Pic  2 )  and  it  is  also  the  title  of  a  very  famous  work  by  him .

    In 1990, just before leaving the solar system, the Voyager I turned around and took a photo of the planets, with the earth a pale blue dot illuminated by a sunbeam.

    This was Carl Sagan’s favourite photo and he even named a book after it.
