It has happened only twice in history . The first time was in 1984 when A and B were involved . C and D gave a repeat performance in 2000 . What ?
Nancy Hogshead (A) and Carrie Steinseifer(B) tied for gold in the 1984 Olympics in the 100 m freestyle event . The only other time the gold was shared in a swimming event in the Olympics was in 2000 when Gary Hall Jr (C) and Anthony Ervin (D) clocked the same time in the 50 m freestyle event .
Cracked by Sreeram , Anoop Koshy , Manjith , Varma and Ajay Parasuraman .

The first pair is Nancy Hogshead and Carrie Steinseifer who had a dead-heat for gold in the 100m freestyle at Los Angeles 1984. I remember it quite well and some questions really make me feel old :-/
Needed google to find the name of Anthony Ervin, who tied for 50m gold with Gary Hall Jr in 2000
In 1972 Gunnar Larsson clocked the same time as Alexander “Tim” McKee in the 400m medley, and then won the gold by 2-1000th of a second when the next decimal place was considered. The rules were changed thereafter to allow for a dead-heat if the two swimmers had the same hundredth-of-a-second times.
